Samoa Alofa Update
May 7, 2016
Our 2 girls have now been in Christchurch for 2 months on our 3 month Samoa Alofa Homestay Program. Time has flown by!
It’s been an amazing time for them so far with lots of highs and some lows….
Every thing is a new experience and we have so much joy watching them create new memories; laughter, fun and hope being slowly restored.
It still saddens us when we see the effects first hand from them being institutionalized for so long, and witnessing little moments of sadness. We continue to pray that what has been robbed from them will be restored.
They have settled in well to their new homes and loving families. It’s the first time in a long time that our girls have experienced what living with a family looks like. We so appreciate the 2 families who have opened their homes and arms to lavish love on these 2 treasures.
Each week they have a regular routine they follow which includes community work with Northcity, hiphop dance classes, netball, youth group and enjoy having days spent with members of our wider Church family. We have also celebrated one of their birthdays.
Coming up I prepare to head back to Samoa with our homestay girls on the 12 June to debrief with SVSG on the Program.
In August we have our SVSG Global team meeting in Samoa and on our return hope to bring back another 2 girls from the shelter for the 3 month program.
